Your influence matters, and the Voice of Business is the best place to engage with the leaders shaping our community’s infrastructure. This month, we are focusing on how our local businesses can lead the charge in sustainability and community support.
We are excited to welcome Melissa Swenson, Communications & Energy Services Manager at Austin Utilities, along with a guest speaker to discuss the Energy Hero Program. This voluntary program allows Austin residents and businesses to play a direct role in reducing our community’s peak energy demand.
What does it mean to be an Energy Hero? When energy usage is at its highest, Austin Utilities sends out "Peak Alerts." As an Energy Hero, you simply pledge to take small, manageable steps—like turning off non-essential lighting or bumping the AC up a couple of degrees—to help stabilize the local grid and keep costs down for everyone.
For our business members, being an Energy Hero comes with perks beyond just saving on your bill. Participants receive window decals to showcase their commitment to customers and are recognized in the utility’s annual newsletter. Whether you’re managing a large production floor or a storefront on Main Street, this session will provide practical tips on how your business can participate and save.
